There has been a further change to the opening of our evening programme which is detailed in the following notice from our Chairman.

Covid Update 30th September 2020

To all members I write to update you on the latest information concerning Covid as you will be aware that new government restrictions are now in place which limit our ability to hold meetings in a safe manner therefore, until the situation changes, all our meetings are on hold. Very disappointing I know to you all.

Since the earlier lockdown a few committee members were asked to work to ensure we complied to all the requirements requested by Weedon Village Hall which would allow us to open in a safe manner, however, while we are ready to open, the rules have changed so that it is not yet possible. My sincere thanks to those members who have worked hard to protect the club and its assets.

To those other committee members who were unable, due to social distancing to assist, my thanks for the continued support.

To you all I sincerely thank you for paying your annual subscriptions without which the club would find it very difficult to maintain our equipment, the safety and storage of all our assets in these most difficult of times.

I am pleased to say that all is not gloom and doom and there are two good-news items to report.

Mick Denton is keeping a stock of some club shop items for collection from his home in Daventry, by appointment only. For members only, currently available are sanding sealer, thinners and rattle-can lacquer.

A generous member from some years ago has very kindly donated some surplus items to the club which are currently being sold to augment club funds. A wonderful gesture.

Hopefully things can only improve and we shall be able to enjoy each other’s company watching an expert showing us how it’s done – or not according to one’s opinion!

I wish you every success in trying new techniques on your lathes. Keep watching the comments from members on WhatsApp, plus YouTube has many interesting ideas, but above all keep turning and keep safe.

Mick Denton, Chairman

Welcome to West Northants Woodturners

This West Northants Woodturners website is updated regularly, after our meetings, so please do come back and see what’s new.
Better still, come along to one of our meetings (entry is free for the first couple of visits), meet the members and join in the activities.
There is more info about the club on the “About” page, including how to join.
West Northants Woodturners meet on the first and third Wednesday of each month.
Meetings start at 7.00pm with the demonstrator starting at 7.15pm. The evening will usually close at 9.30pm to allow for clean up.
We have updated our e-mail and have a new e-mail address info@westnorthantswoodturners.co.uk however, for the short term our old email address has a divert in place but this will disappear soon. The links within the website have been changed but if you email us independently then please ensure you use our new address.

To see our future evening itinerary please go to the “Programme” Page

Next Club Meeting – TO BE CONFIRMED.

General notices.

We have opened a Facebook page under Westnorthants which has proved to be of interest. There is also a members Whatsap page that we are running which has allowed us to update people more readily on what is going on. Any members interested in joining this page please contact us for the link.

As a club we try to encourage turners to improve their skills and also to be more involved with the events that the club organises. We are looking for members to step forward to do a demonstration one evening. This may sound daunting but could prove to be very rewarding and build your skills and confidence. If you would like to give this a try please contact Mick Denton and he will give you a run down of what to do. We would encourage you to give it a go.

Axminster Ltd discount. Over the last couple of meetings it was mentioned that if you purchase anything at an Axminster Tools store and you produce your membership card you are entitled to a 5% discount on all products except power tools. This discount applies only to transactions in store or over the phone.

For Sale: Keep your eye on the for sale page as there is always a possibility of a bargain.

The links to the demonstrators below open in a new tab.
