Welcome to West Northants Woodturners
This West Northants Woodturners website is updated regularly, after our meetings, so please do come back and see what’s new.
Better still, come along to one of our meetings (entry is free for the first couple of visits), meet the members and join in the activities.
There is more info about the club on the “About” page, including how to join.

West Northants Woodturners meet on the first and third Wednesday of each month.
Meetings start at 7pm with the demonstrator starting at 7.30pm although for the next few meetings we will be trying out a 7.15pm start. The evening will usually close at 9.30pm to allow for clean up.

To see our future evening itinerary please go to the “Programme” Page

The Next Club Meeting:  6th November 2019 – Ian George and November Competition.

For the next meeting we will welcome one of our members Ian George. Ian has given demonstrations to us before and they have always been insightful so please come along and be prepared to learn and enjoy the experience. We also have the November competition so bring along your work for the table.

General notices.

As a club we try to encourage turners to improve their skills and also to be more involved with the events that the club organises. We are looking for members to step forward to do a demonstration one evening. This may sound daunting but could prove to be very rewarding and build your skills and confidence. If you would like to give this a try please contact Mick Denton and he will give you a run down of what to do. We would encourage you to give it a go.

Woodworks 2020. We have been notified that Woodworks show for 2020 will be on 15th and 16th May. The website will be updated once we know the details.

Axminster Ltd discount. Over the last couple of meetings it was mentioned that if you purchase anything at an Axminster Tools store and you produce your membership card you are entitled to a 5% discount on all products except power tools. This discount applies only to transactions in store or over the phone.

Book Sale: The committee have also decided that as there have been no lendings from the library over the last 12 months that all of the books will be sold. If you are interested please see Tom Donnelly during the next few meetings to view what is available and get a price. There are still a few useful reference books available and only for a few pounds so get in quickly before they all go.
Also in the For Sale page is a lathe for sale from club member Roy Woolley and  a member of the public, Linda Burrows that has contacted us very recently with a lathe and tools for sale. Please go to this page for more information. If you are interested please contact the sellers directly.
We have also been offered the opportunity to have some Laburnum that has now been cut down, details on the For Sale page (along with a photo).

Meetings & Events

Club Night – 16th October 2019

This evening was a hands on with 2 lathes set up and a number of people doing little bits and pieces. Unfortunately there were only a small number of members there but we did have an entertaining evening with a good exchange of information, tips and banter.
